A week for the U18s!
GAME OF THE WEEK
Euxton West Vs Chorley
2-7
U18s Division B- Toone
Chorley started fast out of the blocks on Saturday going 0-2 up within 4 minutes.
Before adding a third on 18 minutes following some lovely intricate passages of play.
Now well and truly on the front foot, Chorley grew in confidence and played some good football. Euxton managed to pull one back making it 1-3.
Euxton began to get a foothold in the game, winning the first and second balls and holding possession turning the momentum their way, the next goal was key. Grabbing their second goal in the forty-first minute, Euxton went into half time with more confidence making it 2-3.
As the second half began, Chorley again were fast out of the blocks making it 2-4 in the forty-ninth minute.
Chorley took adventure of this lead and kept the ball well making it 2-5 in fifty-six minutes.
A lot of positive football played by both teams, Euxton forced the Chorley keeper to pull off a great save to keep the score 2-5.
Two late goals from Chorley made it 2-7. A great local derby indeed!
"A great game of football played in the right spirit by all today and overseen superbly by the ref, David Long"- Chorley manager.

Highlights:
Brooklands Dragons Vs Bury U18s
A great game between both teams with some good football being played. Brooklands went 2-0 up with goals from Izzy Jepson and Helena Irving before Emme Leonard pulled one back for Bury making it 2-1 at half time.
The second half carried on much like the first with both teams passing the ball well but just as Bury were growing in confidence, Carys Anwyl got the third for Brooklands with a well placed chip.
There were further chances for both teams but it was Brooklands who held on to take the win by three goals to one.
"The game was a great advert for girls football and the GMWFL and played in fantastic spirit from both teams"- Dave, Brooklands Dragons manager.
Bolton Wanderers U18s Vs Blackpool U18s
Bolton knew this fixture wasn't going to be as one sided as the game earlier in the season. Blackpool have started the league format with some impressive results. Bolton had to be at it, and they were from the off, taking a two goal lead. However, it was Blackpool who played the ball better and deserved their goal ten minutes before the break.
After regrouping at half time, Bolton came out firing and controlled most of the second half, adding five more goals to win the game comfortably. The score line doesn't do Blackpool justice as they played more than their part in this game and are a good side.
Bolton picked out Blackpool's number nineteen as their POM, the centre half played really well and coped with a lot of pressure from Botlon's strikers.

Highlight:
Sale United U18s Vs Unsworth U17s
Despite the bad weather in the run up, the pitch managed to hold to host an entertaining game of football.
The first half saw a wonder hattrick from Phoebe Gibson and a great penalty save in the second half from Cara Pestell ensured that Sale took the three points.
There were plenty of hard-fought battles across the pitch which culminated in a highlight packed game. POM went to Lottie Whitehead from Sale for her relentless pressing in the middle of the park and to Emily Dickinson from Unsworth for being a constant attacking threat and showcasing incredible fighting spirit.
"A special shout out goes to the referee, Matthew Hobin for his great management of the game and players. He explained his calls clearly and respectfully to the players without losing track of the game"- both teams management.
