A wet and windy weekend in the GMWFL...
GAME OF THE WEEK

Swinton V Mellor
4-3
Division 1
A Hattrick and an assist from Caroline Price saw Swinton claim all three points.
Following a 5-5 thriller earlier in the season, both teams knew there was a tough afternoon ahead at the Albion Academy.
Swinton created a number of good chances and were seen to dominate the game which resulted in a 2-1 lead going into half time.
Mellor began the second half hungry for goals and increased their pressure but were unable to lead at any point during the game. Both teams put in a strong defensive shift but Swinton saw out injury time with no late drama to claim a big three points keeping them third in Division 1.

Avro FC Juniors V Sale United Lionesses
5-1
Under 18 Division B- Toone
It was a windy one at the Vestacare Stadium which saw 6 goals, 4 of which came from Aimee Peers!
The conditions made it difficult for both teams but Avro seemed to fly out of the blocks taking a 2-0 early lead with wonder goals. Sale managed to get a goal back to go into half time at 2-1.
It wasn't going to be an easy task for Sale who now had the wind against them and forced the Avro goal keeper to make a brilliant save to keep it 2-1.
Aimee Peers increased her goal tally to four as the final whistle blew it was a great display from both sets of girls.
